Obituary: Herman H. Thomas, age 89, died Saturday, February 5, 2011 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after a short illness. He was born April 8, 1921 in Stanly County, NC, the son of the late J.C. Thomas and Ada Austin Thomas. Herman was retired from the former Servomation Corporation in Concord, NC.A cowboy at heart he enjoyed many years driving a stagecoach at the former Buffalo Ranch in Concord, NC. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II where he served in the Continental and European Theatres of Operation through wartime.Herman was also a member of Parkwood Baptist Church, Concord, NC. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Louise H. Thomas; a daughter, Deborah T. Baker; two brothers, J.B. Thomas and C. Boyd Thomas; and a sister, Reba T. Brown. The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Parkwood Baptist Church, Concord, NC officiated by Rev. Darrell Coble.Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC with military graveside rites conducted by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard.The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the church prior to the service. Survivors include his daughter, Dianne T. Miller & husband, Lloyd (Buddy) Miller of Concord, NC; he was a loving grandfather of his two granddaughters, Lisa B. Heintz & husband, L. Brian Heintz of Concord, NC and Pamela M. Sadoff & husband, John W. Sadoff, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; his great-grandchildren, John W. Sadoff, III and Alexandra L. Sadoff; his brother, Harold Thomas of Concord, NC; a sister, Helen T. Lefler of Concord, NC; and numerous nieces & nephews. Memorials may be made to Parkwood Baptist Church, 1069 Central Drive NW, Concord, NC 28027.
