Obituary: Hettie Elnora Watts Patterson, 96, of Lewisville (formerly of China Grove), wife of the late Floyd Martin Patterson, left us on June 16, 2016. Hettie along with her four sisters and one brother, who all predecease her, was born and raised in Iredell County by parents, Grace Brown Watts and George Lester Watts. She was a charter member of Blackwelder Park Baptist Church in Kannapolis and attended as long as her health permitted. Hettie enjoyed sewing, gardening and traveling, especially on trips to the Outer Banks with her husband. She is, and will always be, loved by her children, Doris (Butch) Brown, Susan (Ron Rodden) Hutchens, with whom she made her home in the last years, Lynnette (Dave) Borden and Reid (Cathy) Patterson. Her twelve grandchildren are Eddie (Sara) Hutchens, Carmen (Bryan) White, Paige (Greg) Gallman, Angela (Jeff) Atkins, Sandre (Kent) Harrison, Emily Parker, Traci (Chad) Kirkman, Lori (Jonah) Wood, David Gray Crater, Robert (Tara) Patterson, Amy Patterson and Ashley (Josh) Galliher. She had 25 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two great-granddaughters, Claire Elise Atkins and Graci Ella Wood. A graveside memorial will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., at West Lawn Memorial Park, 1350 S. Main St., China Grove. The family will receive visitors at her home in Lewisville in the afternoon following her service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Claire Atkins Memorial Scholarship Fund, Human Services, Mayland Community College, 200 Mayland Lane, Spruce Pine, NC 28777, Attention: Foundation, or to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice, Winston Salem, NC.
