Hilda Misenheimer

November 2, 1925 — March 22, 2015

Obituary: - Hilda M. Misenheimer was 89 when she passed away on March 22, 2015 at Clarewood House in Houston, Texas after a short illness. She is the daughter of the late Grover C. and Norrie Collins Maulden, born in Kannapolis, NC November 2, 1925. She is preceded in death by an infant son, Donald (Donnie) James Misenheimer. Hilda is survived by husband, Charles Misenheimer, son, Chuck Misenheimer (Daphne), and their three children - Rick Misenheimer (Vanessa), Lindsay Johnson(Stephen), Jamie Sweatman (Ron); daughter Lane Chisholm (Brian) and their three children - Matthew Chisholm (Heather), Emily Chimeno (Levi), and Isabelle Chisholm. She is also survived by brother, C.L. "CY" Maulden & wife, Jo Anne, and sister, Betty Hunter. Hilda had six grandchildren and ten grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She was "Grandmother" to all of them and they loved spending time with her. She grew up in Trinity Methodist Church in Kannapolis, a church where her father was one of the co-founders. Foreshadowing a lifelong love of music and service in church she was a member of the choir there. In 1949 at Trinity Methodist Church she married the love of her life Charles J. Misenheimer. She graduated from Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in Dayton, VA with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. She taught in Winecoff County schools as a music teacher and was choir director at Midway Methodist Church. In the early years of their marriage Hilda and Charlie moved several times before finally settling in Houston - serving God in each location they lived. She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston since 1966 - most notably, as member of the Chancel Choir for 49 years. She was also a member of the Quester's Class, Chamber Singers and Mainstreamers. She served as a greeter at the Welcome Center - welcoming people each Sunday with her sweet smile and engaging personality. Hilda was also a member of the Chancel Ringers and the Executive Committee of the United Methodist Women. More than anything else Hilda was a devoted and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She was great fun to be around and loved to spend time playing games and hanging out with her family. Hilda had a great sense of humor and loved corny jokes! She served God and her family her whole life - a life well spent. She will be missed tremendously by those of us left behind. We thank God for her life and the legacy of love she leaves behind. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:15 pm Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev.
