Hilda Woodard, 89, of China Grove, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Hilda was born on June 3, 1931 in Davidson County to the late Ernest Wade Morris and Katie Bell Lake Morris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry William Woodard; two sons, Robin Woodard and Kenny Woodard; grandson, Chance Woodard; sisters, Ernestine Byrd and Audrey Spivey, and brother, Jackie Morris.
Hilda was passionate about her profession in nursing. She worked as an intensive care nurse for Cabarrus Memorial for over 20 years and later served at various nursing facilities in the county. In her free time, she loved to go fishing, going to thrift stores, and singing at church. She loved spending time outside doing yardwork, mowing, and especially planting rose bushes. Most of all, she loved her family above all else and cherished seeing everyone at family gatherings.
Those left to cherish her memory include her three daughters, Debra Allen, Tana (David) Calloway and Carrie Woodard, nine grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Robbie Johnson, Katie Calloway Watson, Paige Calloway Francis, Autumn Woodard, Shawn Woodard, Alden Kuusinen, Tyler Woodard, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will immediately follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will gather at the homeplace after the burial.
The family welcomes flowers, but requests that those who wish to honor Hilda’s memory will plant a tree or a rose bush in their garden.
