Hollis Christian

Obituary: Hollis T. Christian, 98, of 2805 Florida Ave., Kannapolis passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Five Oaks Manor. He was born December 30, 1915 in Madison County, Georgia, the son of the late Charles C. and Blanche Wehunt Christian. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Christian, daughter, Sandra C. Callicutt, 8 brothers, Curtis, Collis, Ellis, Roscoe, Charles, Don, Brian and Ray and a sister, Roberta Williams. Hollis retired from Cannon Mills Company after 40 years. He was a member of Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church. Graveside services were held on Thursday, January 9, 214 at Carolina Memorial Park. He is survived by three children; Dennis Kyle Christian of Kannapolis, Kathy Christian Morgan of Davidson and Ricky Cleveland Christian of Huntersville, three grandchildren: Kenny Callicutt, Wesley Goodnight and Courtney Goodnight and four great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church, 3006 Pennsylvania Ave., Kannapolis, NC 28083. The family would like to thank the staffs at Big Elm Nursing and Five Oaks Manor, as well as Courtney Goodnight for the love and care shown Hollis and his family. Whitley's Funeral Home handled arrangements.
