Horace Wayne Rodgers

Horace Wayne Rodgers, 74, of Kannapolis passed away unexpectedly while fishing on Lake Tillery on Monday, July 31, 2023.

His funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM Tuesday, August 8 at New Testament Independent Baptist Church, 5140 Irish Potato Rd. Kannapolis 28083. Rev. Tony Kiker will be officiating. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery in Salisbury, at 2:00 PM. His family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 to 12:00 PM prior to the funeral. Family and friends will also be welcome to visit with the family after all services at 6747 Beaver Rd Kannapolis NC 28081.

Horace was born July 24, 1949, in Cabarrus Co. NC, a son of the late Edward A. and Goldie Mae Christy Rodgers.  He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force and a member of New Testament Independent Baptist Church. In earlier years, Horace worked for Vision Cable as a Technician and then for Diebold Security systems. Later in life he followed his true passion for farming on his own farm. He loved farming, gardening, hunting, and fishing. He was also passionate about spending time with his family and friends. Sharing meals and sitting around telling stories and memories. Taking fishing trips, tinkering, and helping everyone he could. He had a close circle of family and friends of those who truly knew him and loved him and were with him always. He had a strong love for his Lord and knew him well.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Patricia Burleyson Rodgers of the home, and his beloved dogs, “Levi” and “Little Bit”.
