Obituary: Kannapolis, NC Howard Leonard Jordan, age 71, of Kannapolis died Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at CMC-NE after a period of declining health. A memorial to celebrate his life will be held at 6:00 PM on Sunday, September 25 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Allen, Major Samuel Bivans and Curtis Ballard officiating. His family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00 to 6:00 PM prior to the memorial service. Howard was born on January 26, 1945 in Cabarrus Co., a son of the late Clyde L. and Lillian Crosby Jordan. He was a life-long area resident, graduate of Concord H.S. and long-time member of Epworth United Methodist Church. Howard worked as a mechanic for several different companies including Merita Bakeries and then Metrolina Green Houses. He drove as a licensed short-track NASCAR driver at Hickory Motor Speedway. He remained an avid racing fan, enjoying traveling with and watching his son, Jeff race at various southern tracks. Howard was a loving and devoted husband, father and brother. He will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his sister, Nettie Lowder. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Faggart Jordan of the home, his son, Jeff Jordan (Kellie) of Rockwell, his daughter, Janna Jordan and partner, Eddie Cook of Vale, his brother, David Jordan (Diane) of Stanley, his sister, Linda Jordan Bivans (Sam) of Greenville NC, many nieces and nephews as well as many furry friends.
