Obituary: KANNAPOLIS - Mr. Howard Lee Morgan, 79, of Kannapolis passed away on March 28, 2009 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville. He was born on May 14, 1929 in Landis, the son of the late Myrtle and Arch Morgan. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, William and Bobby, and his sister, Doris. Mr. Morgan proudly served his country in the armed forces, serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from the automotive business after many years with Cardell Carter Pontiac- Buick. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Elder Rom Kerley. The burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with military graveside rites by the Cabarrus County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Birma, a daughter Angie Koch and husband Mike. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte, 1420 East 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204.
