Hoyle Mason Mccombs

Obituary: Hoyle Mason McCombs, 92, of Kannapolis passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Morningside of Concord. He was born April 15, 1922 in Rowan County, the son of the late Robert Baxter McCombs and Ellen Shive McCombs. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Pruette McCombs on January 23, 2014. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Altha Dayvault (Bob), two brothers, Leo McCombs (Rosalie) and Cecil McCombs (Jane) and a nephew, Ronald Maurice McCombs. Hoyle retired from Cannon Mills Company working in the Lab. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the US Navy as a pharmacist mate. He was a faithful member of St. John's Reformed Church where he was very active in various church activities in his earlier years. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, February 21, 2015 at St. John's Reformed Church officiated by Dr. Joe Coltrane. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:00 PM prior at church. He is survived by nieces, Jean Kay Williford (E.H.), Betty Chloe Longacre (David), Jane Ellen McLawhorn (Dennis), nephews, Bobby Dayvault (Joyce), Kenny McCombs (Betty), Willard McCombs (Virginia) and Frances McCombs, widow of deceased nephew, Lewis C. (Pete) McCombs. Memorials may be made to St. John's Reformed Church, 901 N. Main St., Kannapolis, NC 28081. Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com
