Hubert Edward Hoglen, Sr.

Obituary: Hubert Edward Hoglen, Sr., age 89, died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after a period of declining health. He was born December 22, 1922 in Mecklenburg County, NC, the son of the late Garland Garfield Hoglen and Cora Estelle Estes Roberts. Hubert was employed with Industrial Piping Company, Charlotte, NC for forty-seven years until his retirement in 1990. He also worked part-time with Winn-Dixie in Concord, NC for twelve years. He was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church, Harrisburg, NC where he was a deacon. Hubert was a U.S. Army veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division when he served in World War II. He received the Purple Heart for his dedicated service during the war. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Matthews Hoglen; and a son, Larry Wayne Hoglen. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC with military honors provided by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include his son, Hubert E. (Eddie) Hoglen, Jr. & wife, Sue of Kannapolis, NC; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
