Hubert “Carroll” Mathews, 72, of Davidson, passed away Tuesday evening, February 2, 2021, at Atrium Health Cabarrus, from complications due to Covid-19.
Born July 31, 1948 in Mecklenburg County, he was the son of the late Newton Peterson Mathews and Elizabeth Wilkinson Mathews.
Carroll was a graduate of Myers Park High, furthering his education and graduating from UNCC. Mr. Mathews had retired from Duke Power Company, where he was a quality control specialist. Carroll loved his family and cherished time spent with them. He especially enjoyed time at the pool with his grandkids. A very likeable man, he loved people and was loved by many. He also enjoyed yard work, his family farm in Goldsboro, and had a special love for his cat, Tanner.
Devoted family members include his wife, Debbie Hayer Mathews; his son, Chris Mathews and wife, Danielle; his step daughter, Andrea Kiser; and his much loved grandchildren, Sawyer, Ella and Heidi Kiser.
Memorial services to remember, to celebrate and to give thanks for Carroll’s life will begin at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 6th at the Mathews’ home, conducted by Bill Coleman, Pastor, He’s Alive Church.
