Hubert "H.R." Reed Simmons

Hubert "H.R." Reed Simmons, 81 years old, of China Grove, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 8, 2023, surrounded by his family.  Hubert was born on December 21, 1941, in Rowan County to the late Cicero and Annie Bell Dennis Simmons.

Hubert was a good Christian man, with a strong belief in God, and is in a better place with his late wife.  He started his career working for Templon Spinning Mill in Mooresville, working there for a few years.  He then went to work for Carolina Tractor as a mechanic for almost 30 years, before finally working with his son Eric in the family business of H.R. Simmons & Son Grading Company in China Grove. Hubert was a hard worker and loved being outside, but in his spare time he also enjoyed woodworking as a hobby.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of almost 55 years, Joyce Lee Sipes Simmons in 2016 and his sisters, Louise “Sis” Sturm and Margaret Simpson.  Those left to cherish his memory are his three sons, Eric Simmons, Michael Simmons and his wife Judy, Hubert “Reed” Simmons, Jr. and his wife Renee, his six grandchildren and his nine great grandchildren.

All services for Hubert will be held privately.
