Hughla "Joy" Joy (Brand) Bailey

Hughla “Joy” Bailey, 85 of Mannington West Virginia and formerly of Raceland, Kentucky, went to be with her lord on Monday, June 21, 2021 at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation following a period of declining health.

Hughla was born April 15th, 1936 in Marion County, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Oscar Hugh and Faith Pauline Hughes Brand.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Carroll Davis Bailey who died February 23, 2016.

She was a graduate of Pine Grove High School and later graduated from West Virginia University.  She spent two years as a United Methodist Church missionary in Dulac, Lousiana.  She was a voracious reader and enjoyed gardening and canning as well as sewing.

Funeral services will be held at Roselawn Chapel in Princeton, West Virginia on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at noon.  The family will receive friends at the Roselawn Chapel one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow in Roselawn Cementery.

Family members left to cherish her memory include two daughters; Pam Bailey of Kannapolis, NC and Kim Cummings and husband Jim of Mannington, WV.  Also surviving are two grandchildren; Matthew and Madison Cummings along with a great granddaughter Nyelah Joy Jackson.
