Obituary: Ida Mae Moore, of Kannapolis died December 27, 2014 at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville. She was born in Union County, NC, on December 13, 1922 - the daughter of the late Hurley Laney and Nena Funderburk Laney. She married James Neal Moore on February 1, l941, who preceded her in death in March, 2002. She also was preceded in death by her only son Kenneth Ray Moore on December 16, 2010. She also had another sister and two brothers who preceded her in death - William Laney, Johnny Laney, and Margaret Laney Ward. She moved to Kannapolis in the late 1930s and worked at Cannon Mills until she retired in the 1980's. She is survived by a sister, Joanne Laney Rodgers and a brother, Jerry Laney, both of Monroe - a daughter-in-law, Jo Boone Moore of Thomasville, grandson Brandon Moore and wife Shannon of Thomasville and granddaughter Keena Moore Teague and husband David and eleven year old twin great grandsons, Philip and Ethan Teague of Apex, NC. - She also is survived by several nieces - Betty Laney Fugate, Carolyn Evans, Betty Jo Honeycutt, Debbie Laney Griffin, Nena Laney Carter, and Ginger Outen and nephews - Scott Rodgers and Mike Ward. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Kannapolis where she attended regularly until her health began to fail. She moved to Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville in August, 2013, where she lived until her death. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM Friday, January 2, 2015 at Carolina Memorial Park officiated by Dr. Tom Cabaniss. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Friday at Whitley's Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 101 N. Main Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
