Ilene Burris Nunn

Obituary: Ilene Burris Nunn, 66, of Concord died Sunday, March 4, 2012 at CMC-NorthEast. She was born on May 11, 1945 in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late Elbert "Lefty" Burris Sr. and Lois Mae Sappenfield Burris. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Samuel Nunn Jr. and a nephew Matthew Cathcart. Ilene had been a former church secretary at Forest Hill United Methodist Church for many years and then worked for Yellowbook USA. She loved to travel, was a huge animal lover, a real big fan of the Carolina Panthers, a big fan of the singer, Clay Aiken, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a 1963 graduate of Concord High School and then attended UNC-Greensboro. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Forest Hill United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. David Hockett and Rev. John Kale. A reception will follow at the church. She is survived by her daughter, Jami Nunn-Ivey and partner Charles "Chuck" Neil Wampler, three grandchildren, Phoenix Rose Ivey, Aydan Rayne Ivey and Alyza Mae Wampler, a sister Ellen Cathcart and husband Dale Ray Cathcart, a brother Warren Burris Jr., a niece Staci Burris and a nephew Bradley Sloop.
