Iris Thomas Caudill

Obituary: Iris Thomas Caudill, 74, of Concord, lost her battle with Alzheimer's Disease Saturday, August 13, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving children and devoted husband of 62 years. Born September 23, 1941 in Concord, she was the daughter of the late Seymore and Rosa Belle Efird Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Caudill. Iris worked for the city of Concord in the Light and Water Department for 25 years, where she was loved and respected by her co-workers and people she served. A beautiful person with a smile that would light up a room, Iris was a kind giving person who also loved animals. She enjoyed spending time with all of her family. In her later years along with her husband Bob, she loved caring for her grandchildren. Iris and Bob also enjoyed fishing trips to the beach. Bob's devotion was evident in the attentive, loving care he provided each and every day during her 7 year battle. He would take her to Yost Road to enjoy Bluegrass music and dancing on Saturday nights. They also enjoyed cruising to cars shows in their 52' Mercury. Family members left with many cherished memories include her husband Bobby Caudill; her son David Caudill and wife Jill; her daughters Wanda Caudill, Lori Parker and husband Tommy, all of Concord and Penny Stapf and husband Bobby, of Salisbury; her grandchildren Kristy Troxler and husband John, of Harrisburg, Megan Parker, Amanda Wingate and husband, Kevin, of Gastonia and Logan and Jordan Stapf, of Salisbury; great-grandchildren Chandler Almond, Mason Troxler, of Harrisburg, and Kinsley and Addilyn Wingate, of Gastonia. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 16th from 11:00-1:00 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. Caudill will begin at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
