Obituary: Ivor Eugene "Bud" Cleary, 73, of Kannapolis died Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at CMC-Northeast following a short illness. Mr. Cleary was born February 9, 1939 in Wilkes County, NC a son of the late Quincey Odell and Mary Frances Walker Cleary. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam era. "Bud" attended Ben Avenue Freewill Baptist Church and as a hobby enjoyed flying remote control airplanes. He was employed with Cannon Mills in the bleachery department until his retirement. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Katie Pethel, one brother, Harold Cleary and two sisters, Marie Brown and Ida Cardwell. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Margie Lula Cook Cleary of the home, stepdaughters, Patricia (Robert) Jackson of Kannapolis, Robin Smith of Rockwell, and Sharon Kiser of Colorado. Also surviving is a special grandson, Bryan Pethel and wife Jennifer of Greenville, SC, three sisters, Faye Baucom, Maizie Loggins and Bonnie Wilson, all of Kannapolis and one brother, Arlie (Betty) Cleary of Elizabethtown, Ky. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. Don Draughn and Rev. James Pauley. Internment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park with military graveside rites. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. At other times they will be at the residence of a sister, Faye Baucom, 212 Tanglewood Drive, Kannapolis.
