Obituary: J C Holt, 72, of Kannapolis North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2017, surrounded by his family. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 26, 2017, at Kannapolis Church of God. Dr. Greg Sloop will be officiating. Visitation will be held before the service from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM Monday, June 26th at Kannapolis Church of God. Burial will follow the celebration of life at Carolina Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Whitley's Funeral Home. JC was born in Kannapolis, NC on March 19, 1945. He graduated from South Rowan High School in 1963. JC was married to Becky Holt (Allman) on June 12 1965; they were married 52 years. JC worked as an insurance agent with Life and Casualty Insurance and then American General Insurance for more than 35 years. He was a member of Cabarrus County Life Insurance Underwriter Association. After retiring, he worked at Wal-Mart in Kannapolis for 13 years. He served in the 1/485th regiment of the 108th division of the Army Reserves for 26 years and was called into active duty in 1991, during the First Gulf War. He attended the Kannapolis Church of God for more than 60 years serving as an usher. He was serving as Commander of American Legion Post 115. JC volunteered many years with the Kannapolis Dixie Youth baseball league including several as league president. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, being outdoors in his garden, collecting and restoring classic lawnmowers, canning and making goodies for his Church's fall bazaar, and making Bar-B-Que for family and friends at Christmas. JC is survived by his loving wife, Becky, two children, Jason Holt and his wife Laura, Jonathan Holt and his girlfriend Windy Gaddis; his four grandchildren Alex, Aubrey, Landon and Preston Holt; his two brothers, Sam Holt and David Holt; many nieces and nephews; and the rest of his family and friends. JC is preceded in death by his parents, James Carl Holt and Helen Cannon Holt, his brothers Andrew Holt and Clark Holt, as well as his sisters, Bonnie Holt and Mattie Holt.
