Jack Buchanan

Obituary: Jack E. Buchanan, age 68, passed away on June 10, 2015 at Carolinas Healthcare System - NorthEast, Concord, NC after a prolonged illness. He was born December 9, 1946 in Avery County, NC, the son of the late Claude Buchanan and Thelma Townsend Buchanan. Jack was a truck driver for most of his life working for various motor lines. He was thought of by his family as a true dedicated truck driver and also loved being a mechanic and working on others cars. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR racing events and sticking to Ford-only automobiles. He loved his children spending what time he could with them. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Buchanan. A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial of his remains to eventually be at Webb Cemetery, Pineola, NC. Survivors include his three children, Edward Buchanan of Mocksville, NC; two daughters, his siblings, Johnny Buchanan, Grace Shook, both of Elk Park, NC; Dorothy Townsend of Rutherford College, NC; Judy Oyer of Melbourne, FL; and Christine Slingerland of Elizabethton, NC; Charles Richardson of The Philippines; Charlotte Swain and Michelle Levuget, both of Bryan, TX.
