Obituary: Jack Edward Middleton Sr. 88, of Kannapolis went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at his residence following a period of declining health. Jack was born January 26, 1930 in Gaston County, NC a son of the late Clayton Cramon Middleton and Lena Smith Middleton. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother Dwight and his wife Dot, a sister Doris Basham, and a son, Jack Edward Middleton, Jr. Family members left to cherish his memory are his wife of 69 years; Jane Ritchie Middleton whom he married February 8, 1949, one son, Rev. Timothy Martin Middleton, Sr. and his wife Connie of Newark Valley, NY, and a daughter, Wendy Elizabeth Middleton of the Home. Also surviving are two grandchildren Timothy Martin (Marty) Middleton, Jr. and wife Amy, and Jeremy David Middleton and wife Sabrina, five greatgrandchildren; Alexes Brooke Middleton, Destiny Lynn Eddy, Chloe Grace Middleton, Naomi Hope Middleton, and Sophia Joy Middleton along with two great greatgrandchildren; Brooklyn and Jazmyn. A brother-in-law James Basham and two nephews Rick and Mark Basham also survive. Jack was a member of Crosspointe Baptist Church. He was owner/operator of Middleton Fuel Oil Company, Twin City Pawn Shop, and Jack Middleton and Son Enterprises. His family remembers Jack as a man who never met a stranger, was kind to all, especially children, loved singing and was an avid Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Atlanta Brave fan. He was a strong Patriot, having served in the US Air Force. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 14, 2018 at Crosspointe Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Leon Hawks and Rev. Timothy M. Middleton, Sr. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park with military graveside rites. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home Thursday, September 13, from 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. At other times they will be at the residence.
