Obituary: Dr. Jack R. Traylor, Sr., 94, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Huntington, WV, entered the gates of Heaven on July 10, 2016, at his home. He was born on January 22, 1922 in Huntington, WV, to the late Cecil Q. Traylor and Eva Madge Traylor. Dr. Traylor attended Yale University and Marshall (college) University and received his dental degree from The University of Maryland Dental School in 1947. Dr. Traylor practiced dentistry in Huntington, WV for 37 years and owned The Guiding Light Christian Bookstore, for 27 years. He served his country in World War II in the Army and in the Korean War in the Air Force. Dr. Traylor is a former member of the WV House of Delegates & American Legion. He was an active member of Northside Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles Traylor and granddaughter, Erica Leary. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Helen Wallace Traylor and sister, Phyllis Clauson. Huntington, WV. Children: Pamela Simpson (Ron) of Oak Ridge, NC; Dr. Jack R. Traylor, Jr. (Debbie) of Huntington, WV; Lynne Leary (Rick) of Blacksburg, VA and Patty Hoskins (C.D.) of Charlotte, NC. 7 grandchildren & 10 great-grandchildren: Christi (Traylor) & Van Burgess, Quentin & Colin; Erin (Simpson) & Kevin English, Abby, Claire & Anna; Ryane (Simpson) & Jim Murnane, Trey, Joseph & Mary-Cate; J.R. Traylor, III; Jessica (Leary) & Matt McMurray, Sean & Taylor; Madison (Hoskins) & Jonathan Cooper and Hunter Hoskins. He was also blessed with several nieces and nephews who loved him very much. Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, July 13 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis, NC with a Reflection & Celebration of his Life immediately following with Pastor Gene Ziesel presiding. Burial will be at Camps Creek Baptist Church, Mooresboro, NC. The family would like to thank Hospice of Lake Norman and the many caregivers of Executive Care in Charlotte, NC for their wonderful care. We would also like to thank his special & longtime caregivers Lorinda Schwartz and Mara Williams for their love and devotion to our sweet husband and dad. He loved God, his family and his country like no other and we are thankful for the fingerprint he left on this world.
