Jackie Colene (Rogers) Martin

Kannapolis-

Jackie Colene Rogers Martin, 96, passed away Sunday evening, September 22, 2019, at Atrium Health Cabarrus, following a brief period of declining health.

Jackie was born September 3, 1923 in Mecklenburg County, a daughter of the late Joe and Lillie Mae Wilhelm Rogers.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, J.C. Martin; her son, Tony Martin; 2 sisters and a brother.

Mrs. Martin had retired after more than 50 years of loyal service from Cannon Mills, where she was a talented sewer. She had also been a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Kannapolis.  A hard worker all of her life, Mrs. Martin was also a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend of many.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family members left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Pamela “Pam” Lipe; her grandson, Eric Lipe (Joyce); great-grandson, Lathen Lipe ; step great-grandsons, Kevin Washam (Leah) and Jeremy Williams; step great-great-grandchildren, Amelia and Layton; and nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Graveside services to remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. Martin will begin at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 26, 2019, in the mausoleum chapel of West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove, conducted by the Rev. Kirk Tutterow, Pastor, Trinity United Methodist Church.  The family will speak with guests following the committal service at the cemetery.
