Jacob Billy Sellers

Jacob Billy Sellers, 51, of Kannapolis, formerly of Charlotte, died July 1, 2024, at his home after a period of declining health.

His funeral service will be held at Whitley’s Funeral home at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 6 with Rev. Don Newell officiating. Burial will follow at West Concord Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the funeral.

Jacob was born October 2, 1972, in Birmingham, AL, the son of the late Jay B. Sellers and Sarah Nance Bowers of Kannapolis. In addition to his father, Jacob was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Richard Bowers and his nephew, Tyler Sellers.

Those who remain to cherish his memory in addition to his mother, Sarah Nance Bowers, include his stepfather Terry Coleman, his daughters, Desiree and Destinee Tuggle and Danielle Rea and granddaughter, Melynni Gibby, his sisters, Lynn Johnson (Christopher) of Concord and Maria Carter (Donald Bombardier) of Cherryville and brother Johnny Wayne Buchanan of Denver and his girlfriend, Kristin Babore as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jacob was raised in Charlotte NC before moving to Kannapolis. He attended Hunter Acres Baptist Church in Charlotte. Jacob was a flooring installer for many local companies including Scott’s Sanding Service in Charlotte. He enjoyed listening to music and loved to shoot pool. Jacob enjoyed spending time outdoors with family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
