James Everette Austell, Jr

Obituary: James "Jim" Everette Austell, Jr., 66 of Charlotte passed away on Monday, March 28, 2011 at home. Jim was born in Gaffney, SC on May 23, 1944. He was the son of James E. Austell, Sr. and Rae Turner Austell. He graduated from West Mecklenburg High School. He was also a member of West Gate Masonic Lodge, a 32 degree Scottish Rite member, and a shriner with Oasis Shrine Temple. He was preceded in death by his sister Suzanne Austell Neff and father James E. Austell, Sr. He was a lifelong musician who had many bands through the years, Warlock and Alibi and had played with Ronny Millsap, and Firehouse to name a few. In the early 70's he produced and directed Jesus Christ Superstar that toured the southeast and The Rock Opera Tommy. He ran his own Event entertainment business for the past 36 years and was a man that always followed through on his word. A memorial service to celebrate Jim's life with be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, April 2, 2011 at New Life Baptist Church, 201 Oak Trail, Belmont, NC officiated by Rev. Allen Foreman. Burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends at the church after the service. Jim leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Patricia; his daughter, Dawn Austell Bolick, his son, Jimmy Austell III; his beloved mother, Rae Turner Austell; and two grandsons, Jeffrey & Matthew Bolick who shared his talent and love of music; and his many lifelong friends and musicians. He will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children® - Greenville ; 950 West Faris Street, Greenville, SC 29605 or the charity of your choice.
