Obituary: James "Jimmy" Austin, Jr., 57, of Harrisburg went to be with the Lord on Saturday July 19, 2014 at CMC Northeast Medical Center. Death was unexpected. Jimmy was born May 18, 1957 in Cabarrus County, NC a son of Betty Sue Deaton Austin of Harrisburg and the late James Leroy Austin, Sr. Jimmy retired from Metromont Prestress as a crane operator. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and barbecuing. He was a loving, joyful spirit who was always willing to be there for others and was a loving husband and father. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 23 years; Threasa Johnson Austin of the home, daughter, Hanna Rose Gardner (Grant) of Harrisburg, two grandchildren; Ava Mae Gardner and Grayson Gardner, one son, Hunter Lee Austin of the home, mother, Betty Sue "Maw Maw Betty" Deaton Austin of Harrisburg, sister, Karen Arrowood (Ron) of Harrisburg, two brothers, David Austin (Tammy) of Harrisburg, Mark Austin (LuAnn) of Concord and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Pastor Jeff Arrowood. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park, Harrisburg. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M.-2:30 P.M. Wednesday prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence.
