Obituary: James Bryant Bain, a resident of Kannapolis, passed away on June 26, 2016 after a 10 year battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was 81. Born on June 3, 1935 in Harnett County, North Carolina, and raised working tobacco farms in that area, he decided he needed to see the world. He joined the Navy and later the Airforce and served in the military for 20 years, including a tour in Vietnam. His post military life consisted of being the police officer of the town of Stanfield, NC, and finally working for the State of North Carolina for the Department of Corrections where he retired a second time as Assistant Superintendent for the North Carolina Division of prison. He remained busy in retirement enjoying his passion for golf and helping others in his community. He is survived by his wife, Linda Bain, son, James, Jr. (wife Elisa), daughter, Kristi Bradley (husband Chris), and children, Kelly Lackey (husband Lyn), Kena Sigmon (husband Jeff), Keith Blackwelder (wife Traci), and brother, Rodger Bain (wife Cathy, children Robin and Michael). He is also survived by grandchildren, Madison and Mason Bradley, Sarah Lackey, Joseph and Grace Sigmon, Lauren Hudson, and great grandchildren, Khloe and Kylee Hudson. A graveside service will be conducted at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC on Wednesday, June 29 at 10:00am.
