James Barnhardt

Obituary: James Kenneth Barnhardt, Jr., 76, of Kannapolis passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015 at CMC-NorthEast. He was born July 16, 1938 in Iredell County, the son of the late James Kenneth Barnhardt Sr. and Rena Wentz Barnhardt. He was preceded in death by a son, James Kenneth Barnhardt, III on Nov. 23, 2014. He retired from Cannon Mills where he worked in the # 7 Weave Room and slasher room. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy where he was a musician at the church. He loved listening to bluegrass and gospel music, especially Hank Williams, Sr. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Monday, January 26, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Jack Kivett. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday at Whitley's. He is survived by his wife, Charlene Swain Barnhardt, two sons, Gary Barnhardt (Jill) of Charlotte, Daniel Barnhardt (LuAnne) of Ft. Mill, SC, two daughters, Mary Bullock (Dale) of Kannapolis, Lisa Rodriguez (Juan) of Kannapolis, daughter-in-law, Debbie Barnhardt of Kannapolis, 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, two sisters, Helen Boan (Melvin) of Kannapolis and Carolyn Wike of Kannapolis.
