Obituary: Mr. James Kenneth Barnhardt, III, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at his residence. Death was unexpected. Kenneth was born May 24, 1959 in Cabarrus County, a son of James Kenneth Barnhardt and Charlene Swain Barnhardt. He was a 1977 graduate of A.L. Brown High School. He was a mechanic who had previously worked with German Imports, General Latex in Charlotte, the City of Kannapolis and Cannon-Fieldcrest where he was an electrician. Kenneth loved to garden, loved animals and loved to play the guitar. Memorial services will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, November 28, 2014 at Church of God of Prophecy conducted by Rev. Jack Kivett. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00-3:00 P.M. prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence of June and Merle Upright of Kannapolis. Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife of 34 years, Debra Barnhardt of the home, one son, James Kenneth Barnhardt, IV of the home, two brothers, Gary (Jill) Barnhardt of Charlotte, and Daniel (Luanne) Barnhardt of Ft. Mill. Two sisters, Mary (Dale) Bullock of Kannapolis and Lisa (Juan) Rodriquez of Kannapolis, his mother-in-law, whom he considered his other mother, Merle (June) Upright of Kannapolis. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of God of Prophecy, 145 Westover Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
