Obituary: Kannapolis, NC James W. Broughman II entered the haven of rest on Sunday, August 8, 2010, to walk the streets of gold with his savior. He fought a hard battle with cancer for the last 11 months, and through it all he kept the faith. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, with Rev. Johnathon Rushing, Rev. Jack Kibbit, and Rev. Keith Flack officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday August 13, 2010 at Huffman Memorial Park in New Castle, VA. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8:00 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home. James was born August 22, 1949 in Buckanan, VA., a son of the late Nellie and Jim Broughman. He grew up and proudly went off to serve his country in Viet Nam. After his military service he returned home and met the love of his life Kimberly Viola Kelly and were married and had 4 children. He put his hard hat on and went to work and provided for his family. He did construction work and was an ownership partner of Bullseye Construction Co. in Charlotte, NC. He was proud to work hard, love his family, and be a simple man. James was a member of New Life Church of God. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Noonie Ayers. In addition to his wife and best friend Kimberly, he is survived by 2 sons, Kevin Broughman and wife Rose, James W. Broughman III and wife Lois, 2 daughters, Cynthia (Sissy) Broughman and fiancé Keith Fraiser, and Angie Ferguson and hisband Steve, a brother Steve Broughman, 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, many nieces and nephews and a loving mother-in-law.
