Obituary: James Alfred Brown, 70, of Kannapolis, died Sunday January 15, 2012 at CMC-NE following a period of declining health. Mr. Brown was born on July 1, 1941 in Wilkes County, NC a son of the late Weldon Odell and Verdie Beatrice Royal Brown. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother.Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Myrna Dolores Brindle Brown, a daughter, Katrina Sorenson and husband, Warren of Cleveland, a son, Steve Brown and wife, Denise of China Grove, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.He was retired from Cannon Mills after 42 years where he was a fixer in plant #6 weave room and was a member of Clermont Freewill Baptist Church.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 2:30 PM at Clermont Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Simmons Officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, At Whitley's Funeral Home.
