James “Jimmy” Leon Carroll, 83, of Davidson, passed away Friday morning, January 15, 2021, at his home, following a period of declining health.
Born November 9, 1937, in York, SC, he was a son of the late Lonnie C. and Margaret Johnson Carroll. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Lee Carroll.
Mr. Carroll had retired from Consolidated Freightways, after more than 25 years of loyal service. Jimmy had honorably served his country with the US Navy, was of the Baptist faith and was a Mason. He had attended Unity United Methodist Church, where he was active with the Mobile Meals program. Jimmy was a fan of the “Redskins” , Florida Seminoles and St. Louis Cardinals. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
Loving family members include his wife of 62 years, Marlene “Kay” Faggart Carroll; his daughters, Heidi Fallin (Heath) and Jill Rogers (Michael); his much loved and adored grandsons, P.J. Rogers (Jordan) and Samuel Rogers; nephew, Billy Carroll; nieces, Sherry Smith and Nancy Page; and extended family members.
A memorial service to remember, give thanks for and celebrate the life of Mr. Carroll will begin at 11:00 am Friday, January 22, 2021, at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. David Cochran, Pastor, Shiloh United Methodist Church. The family will speak with friends at the funeral home following the memorial service, utilizing standard Covid-19 precautionary measures. Burial will be at a later date.
