James Ross Crosby

James (Jimmy) Ross Crosby, 89 of China Grove passed away Monday September 23, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Jimmy was born on March 28, 1935 in Cabarrus County to the late John Ross Crosby and the late Mary Lee Johnston Crosby. 

Jimmy worked as a truck driver for Lance Crackers for 24 years before retiring in 1996. After his retirement he drove a tour bus for Crossroads, and also drove the bus for the West Cabarrus YMCA after school programs and summer camp. In his earlier years he enjoyed going camping with his family. Fishing with his boys at the Outer Banks was one of his greatest joys. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and taking his grandchildren to Disney World. Jimmy was a member of St. Enoch Lutheran Church and also was a Mason in the Cannon Lodge and a member of the Oasis Shrine Club.

In addition to his parents Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years and 9 months Bessie Wright Crosby who passed away in 2011, and his brother, Joel Crosby 

Those left to cherish his memory are his 2 daughters; Denise Crosby and Jan Adcock (Rodger) 4 sons; Danny Crosby (Susan), Rick Crosby, Tim Crosby (Kathy) and Mike Crosby (Jane), 1 brother; Jeff Crosby, 8 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday September 27, 2024 at Whitley’s Funeral Home, 1748 Dale Earnhardt Blvd. Kannapolis, NC 28083 and from 12:00 PM to service time at 1:00 PM on Saturday September 28th at St. Enoch Lutheran Church, 701 Campbell Ave., Kannapolis, NC 28081 with the Rev. Dale Cline officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family has asked for memorials to be made to St. Enoch Lutheran Church, 701 Campbell Ave., Kannapolis, NC 28081 or Shriners Children Hospital, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
