James Clifford Drye

Obituary: James Clifford Drye, age 86, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at University Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Charlotte, NC. He was born May 27, 1929 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the late Clifford Tompie Drye and Bertha Mae Weaver Drye. James was disabled for the last twenty years. Prior to that time he was an automotive mechanic both self-employed and had worked for other dealerships like the former Chuck Sparks Olds Cadillac in Concord, NC. He loved to go fishing when he could and watch country & western shows on TV. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Robert Earnhardt. Burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after the service. Survivors include one son, Arnold Drye & wife, Sara; two daughters, Rhonda Pigg & husband, Darrell and Jamie Caudill; three brothers, Bob Drye, George Drye & wife, Judy, and Jake Drye; one sister, Mary Frances Weaver; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
