Obituary: James B. "Jimmy" Dunn, Jr., 81, of Kannapolis, passed into the arms of Jesus on July 28, 2015 from CMC-NE after a period of declining health. A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life at 3:00 PM Saturday, August 1 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Carl Fosdick officiating. His family will receive friends the hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Jimmy was born October 14, 1933 in Bluefield, WV, a son of the late James, Sr. and Evelyn Gibson Dunn. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. Jimmy owned and operated JaNor Inc. in Belmont for many years. He moved here with his wife in 1999 when he retired. He was a longtime member of the Enochville Church of God. Jimmy was an avid fisherman and woodworker. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and spending time with his family. Jimmy will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Dunn and infant sister, "Baby Sue". Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Norma Jean Dunn of the home, his daughters; Karen Smith (Ken) of Huntersville, Teresa Dunn of Kannapolis and Patricia Ashworth (David) of Kannapolis, his grandchildren; Kenny, Chris, Scott and Steve Smith, Kristina DeCeasar, Angela Goebel, Nichole Bosworth, Bo and Matt Riley.
