James Edward Earnhardt

June 21, 1942 — April 11, 2024

Concord

James Edward Earnhardt, 81, of Concord, peacefully passed away Thursday afternoon, April 11, 2024, at his home, surrounded by love.

Born June 21, 1942, in Concord, he was the son of the late Sidney Eugene and Gladys Dorton Earnhardt.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Tamera West Earnhardt and his sister, Millie Earnhardt Brown. James was also preceded by great friends, Bob Caudill and Larry Lancaster.

Earlier in life, James had honorably served his country with the US Army. Retiring from Merita Bakery/Interstate Brand Corp after 39 years of faithful service, Mr. Earnhardt was awarded for driving 4 million accident-free miles, of which he was very proud of. James loved antique trucks and cars, owning several, and always enjoyed attending and “administrating” local cruise-ins. He also enjoyed NASCAR, dirt track racing and always had old westerns on his TV. A lover of 50’s music, James enjoyed shagging and visiting his favorite place, Myrtle Beach. Each morning, he would meet several friends at Wayside Café, enjoying good food and good friendship. Although in a much better place, James will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

Family members left with cherished memories include his daughter, Gloria Earnhardt Love (Todd); sons, Lee Edward Earnhardt and Kevin Dwayne Earnhardt; his grandchildren, Cage Cordell Love, Devon, Natalee, Abby and Noah Earnhardt, and Brandon Love (Carie); and special friend, Richard Hunter.

There will be no formal service.

Whitley’s Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Earnhardt.
