Obituary: James Brent Easley, 46, of Kannapolis, NC passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 10, 2019. Brent was born on April 17, 1973 and remained in Kannapolis where he'd always be close to his large family. He graduated from A.L. Brown High School in 1991 and went on to graduate from Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute in Hendersonville, NC. He had also been active in Boy Scouts, earning his Eagle Scout Award, as did several other family members. He's the son of June W. Easley and the late James Randall Easley. He was grateful for the strong influence on his life from Richard and Karen Jenkins, who helped raise him. Brent is survived by his wife, Kira Easley; his sons, Alex, Tanner and Ivan; his daughter, Kaitlyn Clark (Brad) and their 9 month old son, Jensen. (You are the first grandson, you melted his heart the moment he saw you; he was so proud to be your Papa!); his sister, Aprille Furr (Travis); brother, Adrian Easley and his large family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. He had and always will cherish everyone's part in making him the man he was. His love for his family was unmatched. Whether it was just dropping by to visit on the way home from work, swinging on the front porch to talk after Sunday lunch, working in the yard with his family, family trips to "A Place at the Beach", or meeting everyone for concerts and fireworks at Village Park. Those times were priceless to him. Brent had been waiting for a liver transplant due to years of being sick from autoimmune hepatitis. On April 18, 2019 he was diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive T-Cell Lymphoma and immediately went to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where he went thru multiple treatments, until his body couldn't take anymore. He never stopped fighting. He just celebrated his 30th year working for Food Lion, where he has been a produce buyer for the past 11 years. The produce team/family will always be very special to our family. He attended and served at Charity Baptist Church in Kannapolis for the past 19 years. He was blessed through the years to have taught high school Sunday school, was an AWANA leader, Summer Slam leader and most recently, a Jr. Fired Up leader. His integrity and love for our Lord showed in every single thing that he did. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, July 17th at Whitley's Funeral Home. Services to remember and celebrate Brent's life will begin at 3:00 pm Thursday at Charity Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Marty Payton and Pastor Tom Dolinger. Brent will be laid to rest at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery. On-line condolences may be made to the family at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com. #B-EASLEYSTRONG!
