James Clifford Cliff Gantt

Obituary: James Clifford "Cliff" Gantt, 90 of Kannapolis died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011 at his home. He was born January 15, 1920 in Pickens County, SC, the son of the late Clifton and Jessie Hughes Gantt. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 3 brothers. Cliff was a veteran of WW II serving in the US Navy. He had worked at Black's Drugstore and Yorkmont Drugstore for many years. He also had worked part-time at the Medicine Shop. He was a member of Jackson Park Baptist Church. He was an avidsports fan, especially a Clemson Tiger fan. Healso loved gardening. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. John Estes and Rev. Herman Absher. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM prior to the service. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Mayhew Gantt, 3 children: Thomas C. Gantt of Concord, Julie Gantt Ward of Kannapolis and James Lynn Gantt of Landis, 6 grandchildren: Thomas Gantt of Tamarac, Fl, Andy Ward (Amanda) of Salisbury, Travis Ward of Athens, Ga., Eric Ward of Kannapolis, Gina Dahiya (Narinder) of Glenview, Ill., Lori Russell (Kevin) of Huntersville, 9 greatgrandchildren: Heather and Haley Gantt, Tyler and Charlize Ward, Trey, Riley, Jordan and Griffin Dahiya, and Ryan Russell, his three sisters Jessie Gragg (Alan) of Asheville, Florence Freeman (Alvin) of Walhalla, SC., and Ellen Irwin of Spartanburg, SC. In lieu of flowers of memorials to Jackson Park Baptist Church 1005 Jackson St., Kannapolis, NC 28083.
Visitation: 1-2:00 p.m. Friday before the service.

Service: 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment: Carolina Mem. Park.
