James Mitchell Goforth

James “Jim” Mitchell Goforth, 84, of Kannapolis passed away on January 15, 2020. He was born May 11, 1935 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late William Woodrow Goforth and Mary Dennard Goforth. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Barbee.

Jim was a retired veteran of the US Army for 3 years and the US Air Force for over 20 years. He was a life member of the VFW. Jim was also a Mason and a Shriner. After retiring from the military, Jim worked as a guard at the Salisbury prison. He was also a member of the Hornet’s Nest Car Club.

His family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 PM Sunday, January 19th and a graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM Sunday at West Lawn Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Scott Wheeler and military honors by the US Air Force.

Jim is survived by his children, Mary Ferguson, Charles Goforth, Jimmy Goforth, 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and a brother, Kenneth Goforth.
