James Grisdale

Obituary: James "Jim" Grisdale, 79, passed away Thursday morning, January 14, 2016, at his residence. Born December 22, 1936 in Cramerton, NC, he was a son of the late Joseph McKnight Grisdale and Geneva Garnell Spargo Grisdale. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were his brother, Robert Grisdale, sister, Ann Ramey and his wife, Mary "Kat" Joyner. Jim had honorably served his country in the US Air Force, had served with the Carolina Beach Fire Department and retired from Carolina Beach Police Department. Family members left to cherish his memory include his 4 daughters, Karen Bumgarner (David), Teresa Prevette (Sam), Melinda Dabbs (Gray) and Lisa Roberts (Ronnie); 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; his second wife and companion, Betty Grisdale; his precious twin sister, Jane Rowland and his best friend, Buck Jarman. Jim also loved and was proud of his nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 17 from 2:00-4:00 pm at the home of Melinda and Gray Dabbs. A memorial celebration of Jim's life will be held at 11 am Saturday, January 23rd at First Baptist Church of Carolina Beach. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am prior to the service at the church.
