James Ernest Hallman, 86, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2023 surrounded by loving family.
James was born on December 27, 1936 in Cabarrus County to the late Graham Eugene Hallman and Osa Fink Hallman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Lou Tims Hallman, siblings, Richard Hallman, Wayne Hallman, and Mildred Jolly, and sons-in-law, Hugh Hardy and Mike Perkins.
James was a retired United States Air Force Veteran. He honorably served through the entire duration of the Vietnam War. After his retirement from the military, he was self-employed as a poultry farmer. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and would take spontaneous trips for weeks at a time. He dearly loved and cherished his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Charles Hallman of Kannapolis and Hugh Hallman (Gayle) of Greeneville, TN, his daughters, Christine Perkins of Kannapolis and Karen Hardy of Kannapolis. His grandchildren include Daniel Hallman, Jessica McGalliard, Samuel Hallman, Harry Hallman, Micah Perkins, Kristi Sutton, Grace Perkins, Lindsey Hardy, Adam Hardy and 7 great-grandchildren; Elora, Raylon, Chandler, Taylor, Makenzi, Joel Jr., and Owen.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Whitley’s Funeral Home with a graveside service following at 12:00 p.m. at Carolina Memorial Park with Rev. Bill Nix officiating. Full military honors will be presented.
