James David Hines

Obituary: James David Hines, 74, of China Grove, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019 at CMC-NE. He was born June 13, 1944 in Cabarrus Co. to the late Paul Hines and Pearl Chapman Hines. James was a master technician at Volvo of Charlotte for 40 plus years, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was an expert with an M-14 and .45 cal. And reached the rank of Sp4 (t) E-4. James also owned J&P Automotive. He loved working on and restoring muscle and classic cars. He raced with the Legend Car series for 11 years. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters; Harold Hines, Herbert Hines, Betty Scarboro, JoCarol Sloop, Kenneth Ray Hines, one son, James David "Jimmy" Hines Jr. Those left to cherish his memory, his wife Pamela F. Hines, children, Kenneth Hines, Wanda Hines Henry, Lisa Hines Smith, Michael Hines, Denise Vercio, two step children, Wendy Walters, Bobbie Timm, one brother, Buddy Hines, one sister, Doris Deboe, 16 grandchildren, and 19 Great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Charity Baptist Church with the Rev. Marty Payton officiating, burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors. James had a big heart for animals, the family ask for memorials to be made to a local animal shelter of your choice.
