Obituary: James Boyce Hoots, Jr., 61, of Kannapolis passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House. He was born October 26, 1956 in Henderson County, a son of Delorese McCall Armstrong and the late James Boyce Hoots, Sr. James was preceded in death by a grandson, Logan and a stepdaughter, Stephanie Lee. James was employed with Cardinal Logistics in Charlotte. He was a member of Friendship Southern Baptist Church in Concord. James loved to slow dance with his wife to The Delmonicos, Too Much Sylvia, and Darrell Harwood. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be officiated by Pastor Robert Mayfield. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 6 to 7 at Whitley's. In addition to his mother, Delorese Armstrong, James is survived by his wife, Lisa Haigler Hoots, stepfather, Lanny Armstrong of Harrisburg, sister, Linda Hoots McCorkle of Greensboro, daughter, Brandi Hooven (Jason) of Charlotte, step children, Charlyn Fagerberg (Scott) of Concord, Michael Cain of Kernersville, and grandchildren, Abigail, Sam, Isabelle, and Emma. The family would like to give special thanks to Nurse Kelly and CNA Tiawana at Charlotte Hospice Region. They would also like to thank his co-workers at Cardinal Logistics, who are more like family, for their love and support.
