James Orion Horton, Sr.

Obituary: James Orion Horton Sr., 73, of Kannapolis, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Tucker's Hospice House in Kannapolis. James was born April 19, 1942 in Harrison Co. WV to the late Robert Orion Horton and Leola Swinger Horton. He was an Army veteran serving during the Cold War and Vietnam Era. James was a supervisor at MI Windows and Doors retiring after twenty years, after his retirement he drove for T.J. Taxi service. He was preceded in death by his first wife Erma Horton, parents Robert and Leola Horton, one brother, Larry, and one sister Marjorie. Those left to cherish his memory, his present wife Gloria Grooms, five children Jo Ann (Gerald) Johnson, James Horton Jr., John (Paula) Horton, Leola (David) Burton and Jerry (Cindy) Horton, 14 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren, four brothers Charles (Connie) Horton, Danny (Kay) Horton, Dennis (Elsie) Horton, and David (Nisa) Horton and two sisters Carol (Joe) Day, and Mary Dell Hinkle and countless nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 5:00 PM Saturday, October 3, at the Living Word Church, 2106 West C Street, Kannapolis with the Rev. Rodney Boone officiating.
