James Donald Ivey, Jr., 61, of Kannapolis passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020 after a period of declining health. Born September 27, 1959 in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of Amalia Flores Ivey Pike and the late James Donald Ivey.
James spent his working years as a lead heavy equipment operator. He loved Carolina Panthers football, playing cornhole, the outdoors, cleaning and polishing his motorcycle, grilling and gardening. James was quite a handyman, a real jack of all trades, who really enjoyed wood working.
Aside from his mother, James is survived by his loving wife Kimberly Sue Ivey; five children, Michelle Ivey, Marsha Ivey, James Donald Ivey, III, Nicole Ivey and Holly Ivey. Eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Edward Allen Ivey and wife Melinda and Carlos Flores; and a sister, Christina Janet Oldag and husband James.
A memorial service to honor his life will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church, 509 W. 22nd Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083. Pastor George Morris will officiate. The family will have a gathering friends in the fellowship hall of the church following the service.
