James R. Jacobs

James R. Jacobs, Sr., 82 years old, of Kannapolis went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 15, 2022.  James was born on October 7, 1940 in Scotland County, NC to the late Henry and Ida Mae Wright Jacobs.

James was educated and graduated from Laurel Hill High School.  He retired from Pillowtex in 2003 after 36 years of service.  He was of the Free Will Baptist Faith.

James loved all sports, especially the Washington Redskins and the Boston Red Sox.

James proudly served his country in the US Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran.  During his tour of Vietnam, he and all the crew members received the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign with Device and National Defense Service Medal.

James was predeceased by his wife, Mary J. Jacobs in 1990 and his sister Mary J. Caulder.  Those left to cherish his memory are his son, James R. Jacobs, Jr.; his daughters, Teresa Jacobs Gatton and her husband Thomas and Susan Jacobs Utt and her husband Christopher; his grandson, Robert Blake; and his sister-in-law, Faye Malone and her husband William.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 2pm in the Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Pauley officiating.  He will be laid to rest with his wife in West Lawn Memorial Park privately at a later date.
