James Elwood Jordan

Obituary: James Elwood Jordan, 87, of Charlotte, died Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Windsor Point in Fuquay-Varina. He was born July 12, 1927, in Stanly County the son of the late James Roper Jordan and Laura Harris Jordan. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from the United States Post Office in Charlotte where he was a mechanic. Mr. Jordan, was a member in good standing at Stanly 0348 Masonic Lodge in Albemarle and was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Carlene Davis Jordan, on November 19, 2013. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mychree Edwards of Albemarle, North Carolina, and a brother Bural Nathaniel Jordan of New London, North Carolina. Mr. Jordan is survived by his son, James Timothy Jordan and wife Caroline; two granddaughters, Madison and Abby Jordan all of Fuquay-Varina; and brother, Delmar Jordan of Daytona Beach, Florida. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation and Graveside Service: The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 18 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Whitley's Funeral Home. Immediately following, there will be a Graveside service and burial, at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove officiated by Dr. James Strickland. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 in memory of the excellent care given to Mr. Jordan's wife, Carlene D. Jordan.
