Obituary: James Hoke Kidd, 87, of Kannapolis passed away January 13, 2016. Mr. Kidd was born December 20, 1928 in Madison Co. GA, a son of the late Thomas I. and Evie Langford Kidd. In addition to his parents, Hoke was preceded in death by his sisters; Emma Carter, Odell Moon, Mozell Kidd and Imogene Kidd and by his brothers; Walter, Hughel, Fred and Marcus Kidd and grandson Bryan Kidd. Hoke graduated from J. W. Cannon High School Class of 1947 and Evans Business College. Hoke was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Cold Water Lutheran Church and the Allen-Graham Masonic Lodge. Hoke retired from Fieldcrest-Cannon in 1989 after 44 years of service. He enjoyed spending time at the beach and fishing. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 16 from 12:00 to 1:30 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Carolina Memorial Park at 2:00 PM Saturday with Rev. Lonnie Karriker officiating. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Graydene Ross Kidd and his son, Tim Kidd (Janice) and brother, Weyman Kidd (Jeanette), all of Kannapolis, his sister Dorothy Kidd Starnes of Supply NC and a sister in law, Hilda Ross of N.
