Obituary: James "Lance" Kimrey, 54, of Rockwell died Sunday, February 3, 2013 at his home. His death was unexpected. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 7 at Memorial United Methodist Church, Kannapolis with Rev. Jim Brookshire officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 6. Lance was born August 21, 1958 in Stanly Co., a son of the late John D. and Marion Chivers Kimrey. He was a lifelong area resident and member of Memorial United Methodist Church. Lance was previously employed with Metal Forge of Albemarle and then Phillip Morris, until it closed. Lance loved participating in all of his children's sporting events and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Maria G. Kimrey, his daughter, Montana Kimrey, his son, Matthew Kimrey and his step-son, Dillon Bentley, all of the family home, his sister, Susan Bennett and brother, John D. Kimrey, Jr., both of Kannapolis, his brother, Ty Kimrey of Marshville and his mother and father-in-law, Ed and Shirley Grass, of Kannapolis.
