Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- James Dale Lamb, Sr., age 69, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at his home after an extensive battle with cancer. He was born March 12, 1941 in Rowan County, NC, the son of the late Walter Elmer Lamb and Lola Alexander Lamb. He was employed at the former Cannon Mills Co. Plt.#1 Sheet Dept. and other depts. for 41 years until his retirement. He filled his retirement days with fellowship at Centerview Hardware, Methodist Men's meetings, and Friday morning prayer group. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC. He served God by his active participation at God's Supper Table, Camp Tekoa, Wednesday night prayer meeting, and his beloved church. He was a leader in the Boy Scouts of America, Troop #300 for many years. His family fondly reflects upon his life as an outdoorsman with a passion for surf fishing, camping, & Volkswagens. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. A celebration of his life and his journey home will be 4:00 P.M. Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Judy White. Burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the church prior to the service. Survivors include Kaye Osborne, his spouse; his children, Sandi Whisnant & husband, John of Kannapolis, NC, James D. Lamb, Jr. & wife, Terri of Concord, NC, and Susan Schroll & husband, Paul of Charlotte, NC; One brother, John Lamb of Tuscaloosa, AL; two sisters, Ejoe (Tootie) Bolmon of Elijay, GA and Ruth Kirouc of Seaford, DE; Six grandchildren, Jonathan Whisnant, Natalie Whisnant, Allison Whisnant, Lisa Brown & husband, Steven, Matthew Lamb, and Turner Schroll; Four great-grandchildren, Tarilyn, Dominic, Aidan, & Brody; and his loyal canine companion, Bandit. The family wishes to express their undying graditude to Dr. Roberto Ferraro, Dr. Kevin Kruse, and Dr. William Mitchell and their staff for their commitment and compassion to James during the past ten years. The family especially would like to surround Cheryl Trammell of Cabarrus Hospice with their love and compassion.
