James "Larry" Boone

James Larry Boone, 72, of Landis, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

Larry was born on May 5, 1952, in Darlington County, South Carolina, to the late Louis Willard Boone and the late Annie Jordan Boone. Larry retired from Pillowtex Cotton Mill after 24 years of service.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his daughter Tammy Hayes and brothers; William and Richard Boone, sister; Shirley Scott and daughter in law Debbie Morris.

Larry loved his dogs, enjoyed bicycling and being outside but most of all was his greatest joy was serving his God at Living Word Spirited Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Lois Rebecca Horne Boone, sons; Harold Morris and Bobby Morris; daughters, Vickie Cook (Frankie) and Teresa Calloway (Gene); brothers, Danny Boone (Judy) and David Boone (Shirley); sisters, Teresa Smith and Linda Carter (Brian); 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

The family will receive friends on Friday September 27, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Carolina Memorial Park Pavilion, located down the road across from Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, with the graveside service beginning at 2:00 PM, with the Rev. Chuck Overcash officiating.
